May 20, 2011: Pool Time with Nana!

Considering the fact that all of Ben's FIRSTS were incredibly well documented, I'm trying to do the same for Jacob to some extent! Here are some pictures from his first pool experience!

Nana and her boys!

Love these ones :)

Jacob liked the pool but, in the bottom left picture he's channelling his older brother a bit with the puking. Gross, yes, but I had to include it!

Love this one of Ben & Jacob.

My mom is great at encouraging Ben to try new things and, on this pool trip, she got him some new water wings and was talking them up for a few days prior to us going. Ben was still pretty cautious but ventured out a little farther than the last time we had been at the pool. We ended up going again on Saturday as a family and, even though he screamed the first time I put him on a floaty and carried him around the kiddy pool, he spent the next 45 minutes trying to get onto the floaty in the shallow end of the pool by himself, float for a little bit, get off on the stairs and then go back and do it all again. Can you say perfectionist?

My strong little boy standing in the water!

A few awesome expressions from Jacob!

(just relaxing)

I love the one below on the left for obvious reasons but the one on the right shows those gorgeous blue eyes that he and his brother have in common.

Since my mom was with us, she was kind enough to snap some pics of me and the boys and she even got Ben to smile! In the world of being a 2 year old, Ben often has to be talked into or tricked into smiling for the camera but on this day he was actually following instructions pretty well. So refreshing!

We had such a great time at the pool and, later that night there was another awesome photo-op as my three boys snuggled in Ben's bed. Now that there are two kids, Jon puts Ben to bed 99% of the time while I feed Jacob and this night was no different but, before I went to feed Jacob, I decided he needed a snuggle with the boys. Ben's toddler bed is really just my old single bed from university and, even though Jon never understood how even I could fit in that bed or find it comfortable, routinely he has to snuggle in there with Ben to say prayers and I love showing him just how many of us we can fit in there :)

Thanks mom for a great day together. I always love the adventures we get to share and I love how much you enjoy hanging out with my boys. Thanks for always putting family first and for moving your life to Langley so we can have so many more adventures and so my boys can get to know you that much better. I am so grateful for our living situation. With four generations under one roof, I feel so incredibly blessed and surrounded by love.
